COVID-19 UPDATE


Being fully independent and not publicly funded, the closure has been an immense financial strain on the cinema and as such we have had to cut as many overheads as possible to reduce mounting debt. We are currently applying for the governments Culture Recovery Fund and if successful hope to reopen in December.   

Taking account of social distancing rules, the cinema will operate a much reduced programming schedule with limited capacity in the screens, increased cleaning and longer gaps between screenings. We have now begun to restore an out of use toilet to facilitate a safer, one in, one out system, we will provide screens between staff and customers, and queuing will happen outside the cinema and not in the foyer. There will also be a new menu to accompany our new website giving the cinema a refresh. 

We are aware that a handful of customers did not receive refunds after lockdown. Once we reopen and are fully back online please contact us to arrange refunds or ticket transfers. Some customers may also have time limited vouchers, these will be honoured indefinitely. Once we reopen, please call the box office to book a film. 

With uncertainty surrounding the ongoing pandemic, The Electric Cinema is by no means out of the woods. We do appreciate your support and patience and hope to reopen again soon.
